〔Abstract〕 To explore the clinical efficacy of the double-window approach for the treatment of intra-articular calcaneal fractures, and to compare it with the extended lateral approach, to evaluate the application value of the double-window approach. The clinical data of 110 patients(123 feet) with intra-articular calcaneal fractures were retrospectively analyzed.Among them, 58 patients(66 feet) were operated via the double-window approach and 52 patients(57 feet) were operated via the extended lateral approach. The imaging indicators of the two groups at the last follow-up were improved compared with preoperatively, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the imaging indicators and the AOFAS scores between the two groups before and after operation(P>0.05).The incidence of wound complications(3.0%) and the rate of subtalar joint stiffness(9.0%) in the double-window approach group were lower than those in the extended lateral approach group(21.0% and 40.4%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The double-window approach is fully exposed. It can achieve the reduction results and efficacy equivalent to that of the extended lateral approach, and significantly reduce the incidence of wound complications and subtalar joint stiffness.
