〔Abstract〕 Objective To explore the differences in clinical characteristics and risk factors of patients with psoriasis vulgaris of different genders. Methods The cases were investigated by the questionnaire star. The data were statistically processed and analyzed by SPSSAU. Results There were 375 valid questionnaires. The proportion of men with psoriasis was greater(67.73%) than that of women. Women had earlier first-onset-age than men(P=0.004) and had a longer course of disease(P=0.021). More than 85% of male and female patients had onset before the age of 40. The initial site of skin lesions was mostly scalp and extremities. The patients mainly felt itching and dryness, and most of the lesions occurred in winter while the least occurred in summer. Female patients had a greater proportion of family history(P=0.025). The family history of both sexes was mostly at first grade.Associated diseases were mainly hypertension and dyslipidemia. Male patients were more educated than females(P=0.002),and there was no significant difference in other clinical characteristics. The proportion of men who were overweight or obesity, drinking and smoking was higher(P<0.01). Conclusion There are more men than women in psoriasis vulgaris patients. Females have an earlier first-onset age and long course of disease. Most patients get sick before the age of 40. There are many cases in winter, and itching and dryness are the main feelings.Associated diseases are mainly hypertension and dyslipidemia. Overweight or obesity, alcohol consumption, and smoking are more important risk factors for male patients.
