〔Abstract〕 Objective To investigate the expression of BTB and CNC homology 1(BACH1) in gastric cancer and its relationship with clinicopathological features and prognosis. Methods Gastric cancer microarray containing 98 samples of gastric cancer with clinicopathological features and follow-up information was used to detect the expression of BACH1 by immunohistochemical method. And the relationship between the expression of BACH1 and the clinicopathological features and prognosis of gastric cancer patients was analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of BACH1 in gastric cancer tissues(44.9%) was higher than that in adjacent normal tissues(25.6%)(P<0.05), which was closely correlated with the pathological grade, T stage, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage of tumor(allP<0.05). K-M survival analysis showed that patients with high expression of BACH1 had a worse prognosis(P<0.05). COX survival analysis showed that the expression of BACH1, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis and TNM stage were predictors of poor prognosis for gastric cancer(allP<0.05), and the expression of BACH1(P=0.028) and distant metastasis(P=0.001) were independent risk factors for the prognosis of gastric cancer patients. Conclusion The abnormal expression of BACH1 is closely related to the occurrence and development of gastric cancer, which may be a potential biomarker for the prognosis of gastric cancer patients.
